Yasmeen is a 14 year-old violinist, who began studying the violin at the age of 3 with Margaret Carpenter of Omaha Talent Education. For the last 10 years, she has performed in concerts, recitals, chamber groups, and orchestras. At the age of 10, she had her orchestral debut soloing with the Omaha Community Orchestra as one of the winners of their Inaugural Concerto Competition. Since, she has served as Concertmaster for her middle and high school for the last 4 years, and is the current Associate Concertmaster of the Omaha Area Youth Orchestra’s Youth Symphony. She is the 2010 winner of Omaha Area Youth Orchestra’s Concerto Competition and will solo with the orchestra in the fall, performing the third movement of Tchaikovsky’s violin concerto in D Major. She has earned awards such as 1st place in the University of Nebraska at Omaha’s String Olympics, and Outstanding musician at Nebraska’s District Music Contest. Recently she was invited to solo with the Omaha Symphony’s Chamber Orchestra and their “Celebrate creativity” program. Yasmeen has studied violin the past 9 years with William Wolcott of the Omaha Conservatory of Music.
