Laura Burhenn is a singer-songwriter and front woman of the Saddle Creek, Omaha-based band, The Mynabirds. Originally from Washington, DC, she’s traveled the world extensively as a musician with her own band and as a touring member of The Postal Service and Bright Eyes. She has performed on The Colbert Report, The Late Show with David Letterman, The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, and Late Night with Conan O’Brien. When she is not on tour or making or putting out records, she reads poetry, books on string theory and helps out with Omaha Girls Rock, VOICE (a community action group dedicated to progress and social justice in Omaha), and Opera Omaha. She believes in making the world better through art.
In this talk, Laura Burhenn asks us to consider who is a revolutionary. Many people change the world. How do we hear those voices? Her story winds through music, philosophy, and photography.
