Sofia Jawed-Wessel spoke at TEDxOmaha 2016, and now her impact is going global.
Jawed-Wessel’s talk “Women’s sexual pleasure: What are we so afraid of?” will be the featured video on TED.com on Friday, January 6. Since the TEDx program began in 2009, fewer than 400 TEDx talks have been promoted to the TED.com website. For comparison, there are over 85,000 videos on the TEDx YouTube channel.
Jawed-Wessel’s talk has received over 44,000 views on the TEDx YouTube channel since November 2, 2016.
“Working with the TEDxOmaha team was already such an honor. Through a global platform, I now have the opportunity to shape the way we think and talk about women’s sexuality and its relationship to gender equity.”
In addition to the main website, TED will post Jawed-Wessel’s talk to its Facebook feed (9.3m fans) and Twitter feed (7.7m followers). The talk will later be included on its YouTube channel (5m subscribers), a weekly newsletter (1.6m subscribers), and could be featured on Delta Airlines’ in-flight channel, the TED Radio Hour, and other media.
TEDxOmaha and TEDxYouth@Omaha events have featured 83 speakers and performers since 2010.
